The General Manager (GM), Global Blood Center Solutions, leads the strategic positioning and commercial growth for the Blood Center Solutions portfolio, encompassing products and solutions generating approximately US$720m global revenue.  The role includes direct leadership of BCS Global Product Marketing (Product Portfolio Strategy & Market Insights & Growth), CMO Solutions, and Product Support, and indirect leadership of distributors, matrixed sales, medical affairs, and market access resources around the world. 




Global Business Leader

  • Develop and execute of the global blood center solutions (BCS) aspiration and five-year business strategy, leading the direct reporting BA organization and aligning cross-functional partners from across the regions.
  • Apply the understanding of complex disease-based marketing and the deep knowledge of the healthcare ecosystem and landscape, demonstrating a healthy appreciation for the intricate relationships between payers, policymakers, and physicians, and reflect those dynamics appropriately in strategic planning and market priorities.  Responsible for developing and launching new products and clinical applications.
  • Generate demand for a mature portfolio with emerging clinical applications.  Consistently ‘fill the funnel’ and translate strategies to targeted customer opportunities.  Drive varied marketing platforms and contemporary techniques.
  • Utilize healthcare economics, governmental affairs activities, and clinical information to influence and improve reimbursement.


Builds Commercial Growth Platforms and Channels

  • Collaborate with and through regional sales leaders and Regional Marketing to accelerate innovation and market entry.
  • Build sales capabilities and platforms to expand market penetration, pricing savvy and customer relationships.  Accelerate growth revenues in diverse healthcare segments.
  • Oversee the creation and analysis of business cases for new investments and product ideas. Drive alignment and buy-in from key stakeholders including the EMC.
  • Align with customers and non-customers to understand insights and prioritize solutions that provide compelling value in technology and customer experience, including changes to existing products, and development of new products, services, software, and data management solutions.
  • Proactively assess global commercial execution to optimize field-based strategies, customer-facing tools, competitive intelligence, and uncover new growth platforms for the business.  
  • Partner with Corporate Development to define, prioritize and recommend commercial partnerships and M&A that support the business area strategy.  Own and manage relevant partnerships and acquisitions.
  • Identify Commercial channels and collaborate to build partnership opportunities.  Actively engage in industry and legislative forums to shape global blood policy.


Enterprise Leader

  • Co-sponsors enterprise-wide projects to deliver critical commitments and drive growth for the total business
  • Partners and collaborates with all functions and departments and within Terumo Corporation and its companies, including stakeholders headquartered in Japan and in the other Terumo affiliates globally to leverage partnerships and efficiencies to enhance competitiveness and enable innovation for customers.
  • Partners with HR and other business leaders to promote with external partners the Terumo Group Code of Conduct and champions the Terumo Core Values while building an inclusive culture and respectful workplace for all associates.


Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Member of Commercial Executive Leadership team and Executive Management Committee (EMC).





Bachelor’s degree and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.  Master’s degree in business, healthcare or related area strongly preferred.



  • Minimum 15 years’ experience of progressively responsible management experience in global commercialization of medical device/pharmaceutical products.  Experience in assessing and launching new products, clinical applications, and business models.
  • At least 5 years senior or general management experience, preferably in the life science industry.  Leadership and management experience of global/regional sales teams is a plus.

    Typical Office Environment requirements include: reading, speaking, and hearing.  Significant global travel required.
    Additional Physical Requirements
    Significant international and domestic travel (up to 30%).  Generally controllable and predictable.


Target Pay Range:  $250,000.00 to $325,000.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
