Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies is hiring a Data Architect to join our R&D Software Data Analytics within the Innovation & Development department at our global headquarters in Lakewood, Colorado. This team defines their work as “bridging” – facilitating and communicating customers’ needs and expectations to the software development teams to create and maintain a product backlog.

This position is primarily concerned with data engineering, data science and data analytics and modeling. The position will support our software, product, engineering, and customer excellence teams with insights gained from analyzing device, application, and enterprise applications data. This role is accountable for visualizing and designing the organization enterprise data management framework, developing data models, data pipeline, reports, statistical analysis, and machine learning models on unstructured and structured data. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing our company’s data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging data and information to drive business and software solutions.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of medical device data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and Azure big data technologies. Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture
  • Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics.
  • Work with stakeholders including the Software Development, Customer Excellence, Engineering teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
  • Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, device performance, cost saving and other business outcomes.
  • Coordinate with different functional teams to implement data pipelines, models and monitor outcomes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education

  • Master’s degree in statistics, data science, business analytics or related discipline, preferred

 

 

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in data modeling, data science and data engineering
  • Experience in medical device and/or medical application development companies, including design data pipelines for medical products, preferred
  • Track record of creating effective and dynamic data teams and processes to meet aggressive schedules and quality standards, interpreting SOPs and designing processes in an FDA-regulated industry
  • Experience collaborating and leading outsourced teams to meet organizational needs, regulations, and standards
  • Experience building fully automated, maintainable end-to-end data pipelines
  • Experience establishing product lifecycle tools and processes including gathering requirements, design documentation, validation, and Agile practices

Skills

  • Proficiency with data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis
  • Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, anomaly detection, time series analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
  • Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, etc.
  • High level proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres, Oracle, MS-SQL
  • Experience designing Azure cloud services: Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake Storage, etc.
  • Experience with data pipeline development and workflow management tools (Azure cloud services)
  • Experience using statistical computer languages: Python, R, SAS, etc.
  • Expert in analytics-oriented data design and principles (e.g., dimensional design, file-based data systems, virtualization, extensibility, system performance), Advanced data engineering and predictive modeling experience
  • Experience training internal personnel and customers on analytics best practices, data integration, data reuse, data quality, etc. (data advocacy)

Target Pay Range:  $128,100.00 to $160,000 -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  10.0
